Dr. Ellisons Projectors
Note : Make sure that before you use this equipment that you have spoken with Dr. Ellison (5-8298) or Sam Hill (5-8249) about its care and use.
PCs
- Plug laptop into projector using beige vga cable. One end into projector at Computer RGB Input and the other into laptop at port on back of laptop marked for external monitor.
- Video should show up through the projector.
Macintosh
- Plug laptop into projector using beige vga cable and mac adapter. One end into projector at Computer RGB Input and the other into laptop at port on back of laptop marked or external monitor. Note: there is a mac to pc video adapter on projector #1.
Note: Powerbooks need two adapters
- Grey powerbook adapter cable and
- A mac to pc video adapter. i.e. powerbook -> powerbook adapter -> mac/pc video adapter -> mac/pc video adapter -> beige cable -> projector.
2. Video should show up through the projector.
Problems?
PC
- Some laptops have a function key combination in order to send the video out the external monitor port. Usually a F-key (function key like F7) is labeled or designated in your owners manual.
- Make sure the projector is set to RGB2. This can be tested by pressing the button labeled input check on the remote. This setting can be changed two ways,
- Button labeled input select on the side of the projector; or
- Button labeled RGB2 data on the remote.
Macintosh
- Make sure the projector is set to RGB2. This can be tested by pressing the button labeled input check on the remote. This setting can be changed two ways,
- Button labeled input select on the side of the projector; or
2. Button labeled RGB2 data on the remote
- Make sure that the video is being sent out the video port. For some macintoshes it means that video mirroring must be on under control panels/powerbook display.
- If you have a b&w laptop you may be able to do the following to see in color :
- Turn off video mirroring
- Drag the menu bar to the external color monitor in control panel/monitors
- Turn on video mirroring
